Help me give my students the opportunity to unlock their minds to problem-solving and higher level thinking skills by using combination locks and the Survivor Dry Boxes to create interactive and engaging "Break-Out" activities.
My classroom promotes a quote from Coach Paul W. "Bear" Braynt about what it takes to BE A WINNER:

"We Are Winners!" Sixth grade science students are exploring and learning by engaging in hands-on experiments and activities that promote problem solving, critical and higher-level thinking. Coming from a high-need school containing mostly low-socioeconomic children and having deep cuts in our supply budget, materials are needed to help keep them interested and focused.
Students need to be actively engaged in their learning. Presentation of lessons through the use of “Lock Box Kits or Break-Out Games” provides a competitive aspect that pushes students to answer questions not only accurately but faster. With the kits, all students will be able to get involved, requiring them to recall facts, measure, observe, collect data and analyze results.

My Project
It is imperative that my students learn to problem solve and think critically to compete in today's world. The materials I have requested will provide my students with an experience for a collaborative and kinesthetic activity that reinforces learning. The world is changing every single day, and so are the interests of my students. l need a new reusable activity that will hold their interest and keep them excited about science. I have chosen a variety of locks and lockable containers to create my own version of "Break-Out Boxes." These will require students to work in teams to answer questions about a given topic in different ways.
With these materials, my students will be able to work together, thinking critically and creatively, to complete science challenges.
Students are encouraged to use their wits, collaboration, and grit to break into a locked box. Students are divided into teams and presented with a box possessing one or more locks on it. After solving a variety of clues and challenges, they will discover codes they can use to unlock the box.
