My Students

My students attend a small, rural school and a large percentage qualify for free or reduced lunch. The students in my science classes see college or a two-year technical degree as a way to be successful as adults.

My students take higher level science classes such as Chemistry I, AP Chemistry, Physics I, AP Physics, Anatomy & Physiology and/or Zoology/Botany in which they are asked to collaborate on everything from basic science discussions to larger group labs and projects.

These students work hard to be successful in challenging science classes, while also working together to help one another be successful.

My Project

Currently, my students work at individual desks that have been around the school for a while. Some desks are broken and most do not match. This resulted in group work being more challenging due to mismatched desks that don’t align to one another.

Science lab tables will increase student collaboration and provide more space for materials while working on hands-on STEM projects.

The tables will enable the addition of more hands on activities, increasing student comprehension of challenging science content. Lab tables will also allow students more space for notebooks, supplies, whiteboards and lab equipment when collaborating on an activity or project.
