Help me give my students brand new science lab tables for inquiry-based learning!

My students are energetic, confident, passionate scholars. They come from all over our city to our Schoolwide Enrichment Model Magnet but most of them live in poverty. While they bring challenges of their lives with them into the classroom, I fully expect every one of my students who goes through my classroom to do so with success: they do not disappoint me! These young people have stamina, grit and courage.
My students are the brightest and the kindest!
They love to explore in hands-on ways. They are eager to ask questions and are full of curiosity.
98% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, making our school ones of the highest concentration in our district. The majority of my scholars are African American or Latinx. I strive to bring racial equity by using current, research-based instructional strategies to them.
A welcoming, comfortable learning environment can make all the difference for the tentative learner. This project will provide my young black scholars with a brand new science lab for them to start the new year in!
Our school is dedicating time weekly for every scholar to receive science instruction - we are building the lab from the ground up and we need small group tables to allow for all scholars to be engaged in inquiry-based learning!
This new science program is an exciting addition to our school. When we revealed to students this spring, they squealed and shrieked with excitement! I would love for them to walk into a beautiful, newly furnished space on the first day of school! They can't wait to learn science content.
Our hope is this science program helps us decrease the achievement gap. Not only will students' science knowledge improve, but their enthusiasm will carry over as success in other content areas!
