This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My wonderful fourth-grade students come to school motivated and eager to learn despite many challenges. Due to their parents' low-income status, 100% of my students receive free lunches. Most of my students live in single-parent households.
My students live is one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in a large urban city.
Our school is at the center of the neighborhood. It is part of a large urban school district. Each year we are confronted with budget deficits and limited resources but we do our best to provide our students with what they need.
My Project
My students get excited when given the opportunities to make their learning come to life. This is especially true when it comes to Science.
Providing hands-on opportunities to my students, through the use of the Carolina Electricity Kit and the Carolina Magnetism Kit, will enhance the learning of our science curriculum.
The science kits will enable my students to work collaboratively to inquire, explore, and solve problems.
My students will explore and investigate the properties of magnets, create simple electrical circuits, and examine the relationships of electric or magnetic interactions.
Having these hands-on experiences will benefit my students both academically and socially.
