This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher at a Title I School where a majority of my students are low income. These students often come from disadvantaged home lives, and school is a key component in helping to break that cycle. My students are extremely hardworking and loving! They come to school every day ready to learn, even when there are not many people in their corner.
Our school serves the south side of town, which was tremendously affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Many of our students move around often and do not have a stable home life.
My Project
My project is for two sets of large owl pellets! My students need these materials so that they can personally dissect an owl pellet. By dissecting the owl pellet they will learn about how owls digest their food and what adaptations they use to to do. I also am in need of a book specifically on owl pellets to allow my students the opportunity to learn about their "puke" more in depth and in their spare time! This project is always a student favorite in my class and they learn so much through out the process of it! Science is a real HOOT when you have hands on experiences for the children!
