My Students

STEAM can mean so many things. Our students are of a generation that will be expected to come into the world as digital natives. They will have spent their childhood engaged in technology and immersed in social media. They often lack the experience of hands on time spent in nature exploring the scientific wonder that exists outside their door.

An outdoor camp trip to High Sierra Outdoor Science Camp will allow our digital native students to have a hands on science experience that they will never forget.

We plan on spending 3 action packed days using nature to immerse students in a scientific environment while also including team building activities .

We expect that the memories made at this camp will last the students a lifetime. The science knowledge they come away from may do the trick and help students ignite the spark that leads them in a STEAM direction.

My Project

At High Sierra Outdoor Institute, our students will arrive and begin a true connection with the natural world around them. They will sleep in tent cabins, perform science experiments in the field, build their relationships with their fellow students and teachers through team building activities.

Our students will reconnect with nature and their peers in a positive non-technological environment.

Our students need to build relationships with one another based on experiences--they will camp, eat, play and learn surrounded by nature in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. They will be able to truly experience a great time with their peers. It is going to be great!
