As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to encourage them to have a love of learning for math and close that gap necessary for them to become successful learners in math. Right now I am attempting to encourage strong math skills with little to no math supplies. My students have shown an passion to learn about math. They say that one of the determining factors in children graduating high school are strong math skills and I want to start that now.
Science can spark in kids' minds that they, too, can help solve the world's big problems.Science is an important part of the curriculum but we need materials to foster the love of science.
Science also teaches kids about life and how to communicate with others.
My Project
Students will begin to communicate with each other through the use of the Science Discovery kits where they will be able to have hands on learning to learn about growing and other topics relevant to their lives. They will be able to develop their five senses more clear with the use of the shake and listen or touch and feel tubes.
Science is simply an extension of the children's world and we need to give them the tools to investigate to foster their natural curiosity.
Students can use the tools included in the kit to learn about their environment around them.
