Science in 3D+: An Augmented Reality Experience

My Students
I teach in a suburban high school of roughly 2,000 students, 61% of whom are students living in poverty. I teach Health Science I and Health Science II, both career and technical courses, at our high school. In addition, I teach zoology. These are very in-demand classes. My classes are made up of students in grades 9-12 and represent all academic levels of student.
These students are very curious and eager to learn, and have chosen to take these elective science courses because they are truly interested in the subjects!
My Project
In my zoology and health science courses, I am always looking for ways to make things we study come to life. When it comes to animals and the human body, we just cannot use real-life organisms. However, through the magic of augmented reality, and a free app on their cell phones, students can make the human body and animals come to life! By pointing their cell phones at these interactive books, students can see the organisms in 3D+ as the organisms actually jump off of the page right in front of their eyes!
