This project is for my first grade class. My students have been in school for a little over two months now. We have just gone fully remote for the next upcoming weeks, due to the increase in COVID cases. Many students were excited about learning online, but were sad about not being able to actually come into the classroom. While students are optimistic, preparing them for this change has been a challenge. Regardless of these challenges, we will continue to do what's best for the safety of everyone.
The Generation Genius website is a wonderful website for students from grades K-8, that want to learn about science related topics! I came across this website as I searched for additional resources for our Light and Sound Unit in science. We began learning about sound a few days ago, and never got to actually do any type of experiments to engage the students and allow them to become active participants in their learning. With the students now learning remotely, I need to provide them with some type of live experiences that would continue to have them asking questions and wanting to investigate further.
A subscription for Generation Genius would help make our science lessons come alive, by introducing science standards with fun educational videos, lesson plans, activities, reading material, and much more.
With the subscription, students will also be provided with their own link to activities, which is great for students who often lose internet connections during online learning. The link will allow them to go back and view the material at a later time. While this subscription would only be for a year, I know it will leave my students wanting to see more! Hopefully this could be something that could be purchased every year!
