Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are eager to come to school to learn. They do not have access to STEAM materials. They love to build things and discover how things work. They work hard and strive to do their personal best each and every day, despite the hardships their families face.
My students live in an area where there is a lot of crime and violence, and they are bused into my school.
They have big dreams to make a difference in their lives.
My Project
The Scholastic SuperScience magazine subscriptions will help bring science to life as our curriculum is outdated and doesn't include the Next Generation Science Standards. The 3 boxes of copy paper will help with projects students will create from the readings as well as allow me to make copies of different supplemental materials.
The science kits will help to bring the science to life as we look at rock samples to further our understanding of earth science.
Together, all of these materials will help enrich my students' understanding of science and foster a love of questioning the world around them. Hopefully, this will inspire them to go into the field of science.
