Nurture young scientists! My students love science, but they lack science reading materials and science games. They devour good reading material and simply adore games. Help keep science fun for my students!
My students are, in short, amazing.
They attend a public charter school, in Illinois, that is home to a wonderful, diverse community. Over 36 languages are spoken by students at our school! My fifty students are creative, funny, and outgoing. Their diversity makes it even more clear that a language they all speak fluently is science!
My Project
Science games and SuperScience periodicals are awesome complements to units filled with discussions, experiments, and exploration!
I am requesting subscriptions to Scholastic News Science World for each of my students. These particular materials will provide my students with science news and information from around the world. My students are familiar with -- and LOVE -- traditional Scholastic News, so the familiar format will be wonderful for students who are learning English. I will be able to use the periodicals to make connections to their science curriculum and show them real life examples of concepts learned in class. Science World will also help build reading fluency and science comprehension.
I am also requesting Wrap Around games and bingo games that cover and explore a wide range of topics. With these materials, my students can have fun and be engaged while learning science!
This request will make a difference in the lives of 50 fantastic fifth graders who love science.
The bright colors, fascinating images, and interesting articles in Science World will engage them as they study science, and the games will keep them smiling as they familiarize themselves with science concepts. A donation to this project is an investment in the future of science!
