I teach at a Title I school where a significant portion of our students come from high-need households. My students come from extremely diverse backgrounds, with more than 6 languages spoken in my classroom alone.
Science and the environment have been a huge source of interest for my kiddos this year.
They are extremely curious and love learning about the world. Our school is currently closed for the Covid-19 pandemic, and we are doing distance learning via computers.
My Project
One of the units we cover in second grade science is weather, and normally, we would do a "Science Friday" experiment each Friday. This was the highlight of my students' weeks (and my own), and I am terribly sad that we are no longer in school for the rest of the year.
I'd like to give my students a sense of normalcy and routine, while also providing strong, curriculum-based instruction.
I can do that with these fantastic weather science kits! Each student would get their own kit to use at home during distance learning. These kits are engaging, hands-on, and rooted in state standards and curriculum!
