Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students at Ninth Street Elementary deserve a quality education. We are located in downtown Los Angeles near Skid Row. Our school should be of top quality considering the location and they students we serve. So that our students can compete in the larger society, they need the supplies and equipment that will enable them to do so. Exposure to science curriculum and standards is crucial!
We have here the future scientists, botanists, chemists, geologists, and biologists sitting here at our desks! But without the curriculm and materials, they may never realize their potential. Our school currently provides textbooks and workbook materials. But to provide the quality science instructions, students need to be able to explore and experiment with quality materials and scientific instruments.
Currently, we lack the means to provide our students with these materials. Our instruction and their learning can be greatly improved with the provision of these professional scientific materials; materials developed for quality science instruction for children! All students in the fifth grade classes at our school will benefit from these materials for years to come as our school is able to budget refill materials for each kit. All we need are the kits to begin with!
Our students are the next to discover the cure to cancer, the prevention of global warming, the way to replenish natural resources...These materials do not simply benefit the students and teacher, but they benefit us ALL!
