As a result of our current corona virus pandemic, students are currently engaging in online learning through our Schoology platform. As a science teacher, I have been using youtube videos, digital lessons, lab simulations, and interactive gaming sites to engage students in asynchronous ( self-paced) learning. If I could ship each of my students a science kit to use at home, I certainly would do so, but that is not possible.
I do not know what my students are facing right now quarantined in their homes, but I know that my students are resilient!
They are somehow finding the motivation to participate in online learning with the various devices they have despite their current situation. Some students prefer to participate during our synchronous (live virtual teacher hours) learning time. I want to make sure their learning experience is memorable and brings joy to their day.
My Project
This Flocabulary subscription will help my students review key vocabulary and content using animated music videos, catchy songs, and an opportunity to actually create their own songs with a focus on literacy strategies. They will be able to access this subscription at home and participate in activities that I assign them.
Learning starts when students are fully engaged and Flocabulary is a great way to get the most reluctant, unmotivated students to participate.
Although, I am available everyday for them to interact with me virtually, this would be a great addition to help me prepare students for their next level of learning. With your help, I will be able to give my students an opportunity to learn and review in an engaging, interactive way while they are quarantined.
