Fourth grade is always an adventure! We never know where our learning will take us. In our room, we're always looking for ways to meet the learning styles of kinesthetic, visual, audio, and logical learning. By the end of the school year, I want my students to see the value of learning something new and embrace the love of lifelong learning.
Our class is made up of 24 kind​, creative students who are eager to learn new material.
This year, my students have really worked towards persevering through difficult tasks. This is our favorite quote: "Be like a postage stamp, stick to something until you get there!" -Josh Billings.
My Project
My students are super fans of time travel, nifty gadgets, and space. Science fiction books would be a wonderful addition to our classroom library and they would take these books home at night to share with their families! These high interest books are full of academic and domain specific vocabulary that my students need. Yet, the "far-out" topics will having them begging for more.
As my students dive into the science fiction books, they will be able to escape reality for a bit and explore unknown places.
I can imagine how wonderful it would be for my students to read and discuss these books at home. I bet they will be the building blocks that catapult us into new areas of exploration.
