This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher, I can not stand to see a student who has nothing to do, so I have been actively searching used book stores and the Internet to purchase a variety of nonfiction science based books, magazines, and popular science fiction titles for early finishers to use.

My students are ninth through twelve grade scholars attending a Title One school in either my biology or chemistry classes.

My students aspire to a wide variety of things and have had many differing experiences prior to high school. Many come from homes were English is spoken as a second language.

My Project

Through my purchases and donations from family and friends, I have begun to build a classroom library, but as a first year teacher I do not have the funds to purchase a bookshelf and there are not any in my classroom. Please help me buy a bookshelf and a few books that I think will spark the interest of my students.

With your help, I can make sure students are actively involved in academic pursuits the entire class period; learning more about science and developing their taste and skills in reading.
