Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My scholars are very inquisitive and they have the hunger to find out about the unexpected. Our curriculum is based on our scholars growing their minds through discovery and discussion amongst themselves. As a teacher in a high poverty public urban school, I am challenged to develop and foster a high expectation/high achievement learning environment with children who may have been conditioned to believe that they aren't capable of high achievement because of special needs or conditions of poverty.
My scholars and I believe when a learning environment with high expectations of achievement is introduced, perpetuated by the classroom teacher and supported by the school and community, students cultivate an "I CAN do it" attitude and perform to and beyond expectations despite challenges they may face.
My Project
My colleagues and I are given the opportunity to host a family science night with our students and their families once a year. My colleagues and I want to enforce the importance and knowledge of science to our families. Please help fund our decor that we will be able to reuse from time and time again. We want to leave our families with a lasting impression! We know that with our decor, students and families will show a greater interest in science and begin to explore more on their own! I truly need your support to make this a phenomenal experience.
