Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a high poverty school. Most of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students don't even have the basic school supplies. Many of my students are being raised by single parents, parents with two jobs, and/or other family members.
I teach at a Title I school in Nevada.
My students get excited to come to school. Some of the students see school as a break from their homes. I want to get them excited to learn. I have a short time with them to encourage them to continue their education beyond high school.
My Project
My fourth graders have never experienced a science fair. Some of the best times the students have in class is when they get involved with hands on science activities. They love being able to learn more about themselves and everything around them.
I want students to be able to have the chance to question and understand the world around them.
Our science fair will allow students to run their own experiment as well as build a knowledge board using the tri-folds, markers, construction paper, and supplies as their venue. They will be able to present their findings as well as hear about their classmates experiments. This will be a first time experience they will always remember.
