Students at my school come from a working class neighborhood that is very well integrated. They are every color of the rainbow and come from multiple backgrounds. One thing that they have in common is that many of their families are working multiple jobs and having trouble making ends meet.
Teachers, counselors, and other staff members frequently purchase basic need items for students who are not able to receive them from their families.
This school uses a program of catching students doing the right thing. There is an ongoing conversation about "being a bucket filler" by doing good things. They receive incentive "bucks" for good behavior and deeds.
I want my students to have the same fun, exciting and wonderful experiences I had when I was in school. School should be fun and safe for all students to learn.
My Project
My students are in need of some basic supplies for coming back from winter break. We are in need of composition books, pencils, highlighters, binder clips, paper, magnets and a way to hang up our work around the classroom. Students are always in need of pencils, still working on where they all go? We are working hard to fill up our notebooks and science fair projects are coming up and students will need another notebook to use. With science fair coming up and science boards to fill we need some color paper to help these projects along. Some students may need boards for their projects,too. I want my students to be proud of their work and want to show it off.
