This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Pre-k is the first educational experience for most students and I want to ensure that it is a positive one. I create an environment that is rich in language and literacy, math concepts and social emotional development.

Every day my pre k students walk into our classroom eager to learn and build on previous lessons.

My Project

This project will be an extension of learning life cycles for my students. We had the opportunity to learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We made predictions as to what could be inside, predicted how many seeds we could pull out with one hand, observed pumpkins decompose in our classroom and tried pumpkin pie.

With this experience we will have the first hand opportunity to watch a caterpillar metamorphosize into a butterfly.

We will discuss the benefits of insects in our gardens. We will learn about the flowers butterflies like best. Maybe even plant a butterfly garden in anticipation for their arrival.
