Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special education, general education, and English as a Second Language students. They are inner city kids that come from homes that are very different than suburban kids.
In my school, we have twenty-six different countries represented.
Over half of our student population are ESL (English as a Second Language) students. We are currently a Level 4 school. Our students are hard-working and we are working an extended day to push them to become true lifelong learners.
My students come from homes where poverty is the norm. Sometimes they have no clue where their next meal will be from, or if mom/dad will be there when they get home from school.
My classroom is full of many different learners. I love going to work every day because, as an educator, I am challenged in many different ways. I feel like I am truly making a difference in these students' lives.
My Project
My students are ELL, SPED, and come from homes where poverty is a way of life. These students struggle in all subjects but seem to struggle the most in Science. Having these science tables will help the students work in groups and then be able to conduct science experiments. This will allow for hands-on learning. This will be singularly impactful on fostering growth and encouraging innovation. Hands-on activities make a more profound impact on the students and will stay with them longer than through conventional instruction. This will result in students learning and growing at a rapid and phenomenal level.
