In a science classroom, technology is essential to the learning environment. When used properly, students are more engaged and have a greater aptitude for learning. While students are even more proficient in the use of technology than we’ve ever seen before, there is still so much more potential that can be unlocked with the use of more modern tools.
At our high school over half the population of students is made up of minorities and the majority have free or reduced lunch.
Our school sits on the outskirts of Lafayette Parish so most of my students live in rural areas. While this school is very diverse and they come from many different backgrounds, these kids do amazing things when they come together in the classroom!
My Project
The tablet holder will be used as a document camera on steroids. In conjunction with the iPad and AppleTV, the tablet holder can be used anywhere in the classroom and be broadcast onto the projector at the front of the classroom. Experiments and demonstrations will not be limited to a small area where not all students can see it happening. Not only will experiments and demonstrations be broadcast to the entire class, but with certain apps on the iPad, live annotations can be done to put the focus on certain aspects of the experiment. These live experiments and demonstrations can then be saved and shared with the class for further examination. The other supplies on this list vary from general supplies to some science classroom supplies.
These materials will further help my students expand their scientific knowledge.
