This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a wonderful group of students in a diverse area. I am blessed to teach an amazing group of students who I believe are excited about learning. They work very hard every day striving to achieve.
I teach students who are eager to learn but are not provided the resources that other students have.
I know in my heart I am teaching our future doctors, lawyers, nurses, and engineers. Most of them are low income and receive free lunch.
My Project
LEARN and have FUN while doing it! Twenty-first century learning isn't solely centered around books, so I like to offer students a variety of experiences that keep them actively engaged and eager to learn.
We will be using the STEM kits on water shortage and oil spills from Lakeshore to make science fun for a number of projects.
Writing and following directions are important skills to have and are part of our third grade standards. We will be using the STEM kits to help us explore science standards as well as reading and writing. Students will plan, build, and experiment with their group while working on writing multi-step directions for another group to read and work on.
STEM related material will help this group of third graders work on Common Core State Standards and prepare them for 21 Century learning that will come in handy when they get older.
