My students need various science activities, such as Rocks and Soil Tub and Library, to explore rocks and strengthen their knowledge of our first Earth Science Unit.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Let's rock! I mean we desperately need a space and activities to explore our first science unit - Rocks!
I teach in a Title One (low socio-economic) school in southeast San Diego.
I teach second graders who are eager to learn. Unfortunately, most are low in reading and math. This is our main focus in our classroom - and takes the most time. Yet,one of their favorite parts of the day is science. My students love it and I wish I could do more teaching of it. We even have a science school across the street, but none of my students spend time there because it is too costly and the school won't provide scholarships to the community.
My Project
Here's where you come in... with your donation we can incorporate a science center into our classroom. Each child would spend an extra hour a week discovering our first unit - ROCKS! These activities promote scientific standards and inquiry. My students will also complete these science activities while strengthening their reading and math skills as well.
Your generosity will provide needy students with the opportunity to explore through science as well as create a life-long curiosity about their world.
Your donation will also inspire and motivate my students by showing that you believe in their education as much as I do.
