Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 21 wonderful smiling, friendly faces greet me every day! My students are hungry for knowledge, and they are very eager to learn. I teach for the largest school district in Oklahoma.

My school is high-poverty and 100% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast.

They love to talk, share, and are very social. They like to learn in a way that is meaningful and fun for them. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and have never had a positive interaction with reading. Despite the poverty, they work hard and are constantly trying to learn more and more. They are great and always appreciate anything that is given to them to help them learn.

My Project

I am requesting science and exploration books that will be used to enhance the curriculum we already have in place. Our room has access to a school library but because of budget cuts our choice of books is really limited. Most of the science books in our library area also directed towards older students and are far too advanced for our young learners. Please help me provide these books for my students that will help them investigate and apply various science skills and themes. These books will also be used to create a science literacy center that will allow their imaginations to grow and enhance their language skills.

I want my students to love learning, to never loose their curiosity for the world around them and their love for school exprience.

This donation will truly improve the learning of my students.

The books will nurture their minds and imagination for science and allow them to make real-life and true connections with literacy and science concepts. These books from this project will also help students with their language skills and help them achieve success.
