Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A shared library serving the lower elementary is a longstanding idea. We have the shelves, the fiction books, but hardly a nonfiction book in site. Help us to fill our shelves with high interest books from multiple levels.
Our students are a mixed group of rural and small town children that come together to learn through our arts integrated curriculum.
The children have the same core group of teachers bringing them up through the grades in a family atmosphere. We learn in monthly blocks of focused learning.
My Project
I have chosen nonfiction books from first through fifth grade level in containers to make it easy for children to choose from many books in their personal independent reading level or at an instructional level when read with a reading buddy. They will easily be able to manage the library as they can return the book to its proper place to keep books ready for the next reader.
These books will stay with the school for at least a decade helping a generation of library users throughout the elementary school.
They will learn basic organization and proper care of library books and two children will have a weekly chore to be sure all books are in their proper place.
