This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are mostly minority students and most of them come from a low-income family background. They are very active and enjoy coming to school and learning science.
They are always ready to learn new skills and explore new opportunities, but the unavailability of resources makes it hard for them to understand some of the abstract concepts that I teach; therefore, the need to explain the concepts in ways that make them real, captivating and interesting becomes imperative.
My students enjoy completing class projects that involve hands-on experiments, programming, art and research, which helps them express their understanding of chemistry concepts in their own way by creating new meanings of their discoveries.
My Project
My project is about helping my student-athletes who are sprinters and also play soccer get some training pants and sports t-shirts. My students play soccer and need training pants and shirts to help them train effectively. I teach students who are very involved in sports and play on our school soccer team but they don't have the type shorts and shirts that they need in order to stay actively engaged in the game. My students need training shorts and shirts for effective participation in soccer and field events.
Science has proven that staying active has a lot of health benefits.
It helps to increase aerobic capacity and cardiovascular health. It also helps improve muscle tone to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Research has shown that sports increase social interaction, healthy well-being, and brain activity.
