My students are from Kindergarten to 5th grade level whose age range from 5 to 10 yrs. old. All of my students are on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Their needs are very complex and it varies from student to student, some mild and others severe. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that involves persistent challenges in social interaction, speech and nonverbal communication, and restricted/repetitive behaviors. ... However, many children diagnosed with ASD go on to live independent, productive, and fulfilling lives.
One way for these students to be successful is to make the classroom fun and meaningful.
The classroom can be fun and meaningful when we have materials and resources that will help students learn. With your help we can make this happen in our classroom.
My Project
My students age range is from 5 to 10 yrs. old. At these age, they are very curious about everything. Sparkling these interest and curiosity on my students with ASD is already a great achievement in the classroom.
In our STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) classroom, we provide them with various ways to learn and understand the subject as it relates to their everyday life.
Right now, we don’t have all the means to address the need of my students. My students love to do hands-on as well as technology in the classroom. It would be best to have Science and Engineering kits and materials for them to use. Science kits that include, microscope with slides and specimen, energy, electricity and magnetic kits, Build and Play Sets, and tablets to make technology happen.
Being the coverage teacher, I have 8 classes whose class ratio is 6:1:1 and 8:1:1. I could just foresee the excitement on my students eyes when they get to have these materials. I am looking forward to your generosity.
