Help me give my students scientific materials, such as butterfly growing kits, bird activities for ELA and STEM actives for science in order to explore more in depth.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
All students are able learn. Within my 1st grade classroom, students have a wide variety of abilities. Within this school year, there are 20 students in our class as well as a total of 150 in the whole 1st grade. Our school is a great learning environment where students prosper. Our academic community is continuously growing and focuses on achieving higher expectations.
In today's society, hands on experiences and technology have become such a driving force in academics.
In my experience, when students have the opportunity to experience things on their own as well as use technology to assist in completing assignments, they tend to have greater achievements.
Our students are eager to learn and explore new things. These materials will assist as visual aids in the students learning more about the butterfly life cycle. Students will be able to actually examine these materials to gain a better understanding of how insects grow and change.
Being able to actually experience the transformation of the caterpillar to butterfly, will be an exciting and strong learning experience.
The butterfly garden will strengthen my students understanding. Students will benefit from the resources in this project due to the hands on and visual aspects!
As for the birds materials, in 1st grade the last 2 quarters focus on birds. These bird figures will be a great addition to our bird centers to give students a hands on manipulative when writing about birds. While the STEM activities will help with the lessons on magnets. These magnet materials will give students the opportunity to try out and experience actual magnets.
