This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are the most fantastic first graders that a teacher could ever be blessed having the privelege of teaching. They are brilliant! So smart, kind, loving, funny, observant, hardworking, thoughtful, loud, colorful, stylish, creative, and vibrant! My class is full of life and my students LOVE to dance and sing!! My students think of our class as a family, and think that their classmates are all beautiful and special. They are a joy to teach and brighten my day everyday!

My Project

The handbells will integrate the arts into our science unit on light and sound. Using Handbells will allow students to create music and gain a deep understanding of sound vibrations, melody and rhythm. I used similar bells when I was in elementary school and have always looked forward to having a set for my students. We will be able to preform songs for parents, family members, school staff and the entire student body, so that they can see how we integrate arts into all aspects of learning in the classrooom. This project will be cross curricular in the areas of Art (music), science, social studies and math.
