Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my classroom, I have 25 enthusiastic learners that love learning. We are a Title I school in a low socioeconomic neighborhood with limited resources and 100% of our students receive free lunch. The majority of my students are English Language Learners with a lot of curiosity and great ideas. They come from hard-working families that have at least two jobs. My students need the right resources and tools to help them master the academic standards in all areas. In order for my students to do well, I need to provide as many resources as possible.
My Project
My third grade students need to be better prepared in STEM Challenge activities. These activities tie in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. My third graders need to learn to collect data on a science topic (example: Force and Motion), create presentations ( example: Google Slides or PowerPoint), and take pictures, video record (to capture their engineering and math processes and share results with their peers). Students will also record their questions and answers, plan their designs, and write their conclusions.
My students need two iPads in order for them to be fully engaged in STEM Challenge activities where it would be required for them to research topics, collect data, create presentations, and take pictures, and record their project.
In a 21st century classroom, it is essential to integrate technology to motivate and engage students, build their technological skills, and get them college ready for the real world.
