My students need to have time to explore in the areas of Science and Mathematics. This storage unit will enhance our Science and Math exploration with various materials.
The students walk into our classroom every day full of energy and willingness to learn! They are enthusiastic and creative. They love our community and we strive to "BE KIND" to one another each and every day.
I teach at a school with a significant population of military students whose parents serve in the Navy and the Coast Guard.
Our students need time to build community and social skills in a fun way.
Many of my students receive backpacks of food on the weekend, and our school has a significant number of students who receive free and reduced lunch.
Not only is it my goal to create a strong sense of community, it is the goal of our school. We love our school and it shows the moment you walk through the door.
My Project
The piece of furniture will help my class find and organize materials and supplies for our Science and Math Units. I am requesting this to have a "home" for our STEM supplies. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go and more importantly, so will the students. We just need your help in getting this organized.
Research indicates that we need to instill the love of SCIENCE and MATH!
The students enjoy building with materials, developing ideas and collaborating with one another. This organized station will allow them to choose STEM UNITS and have the materials readily available.
This piece of furniture will allow my Motion and Design, Weather, Magnet Unit, Body Systems, as well as the numerous Math materials to be easily stored and accessible by all. This will allow efficiency in choice time and clean up time for the students and myself.
I feel that we need to provide time for our students to explore materials, figure out mistakes and try new solutions. My students LOVE both Science and Math practices especially when they are hands on. I look forward to providing them with time and opportunity to continue to enhance the skills already learned and introduce skills that will excite them about Science and Math.
