Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These high interest books will help my students become better readers and develop their Spanish reading skills. My students love to read and I want to keep the momentum going. I want to provide them with as many opportunities as possible to engage in literacy. These books are all non-fiction books that focus on different scientific topics.

These books will have various functions in order to maximize their value.

These books will be used as read-alouds to introduce topics. They will be used as resources for science lessons. They will also be used as mentor texts for our informative writing unit. The books will also be used for students' book boxes to be used during independent reading time. These books are also in various reading levels to ensure they are accesible to all my students.

One of my on-going classroom goals is to continue expanding my classroom library. These books will help greatly increase the non-fiction selection. I am very excited for students to be engaged in these scientific topics while simultaneously continue developing their literacy skills.
