Help me give my students snacks and a cotton candy machine with supplies for student celebrations and a hands-on chemistry lesson.

Our school is a middle/high school in the urban area of West Baltimore. We focus on educating our students to become great leaders and citizens. Students are celebrated for exhibiting our school's core values: integrity, scholarship, citizenship, perseverance, and sustainability. My students learn best through real-world application, hands-on activities, and authentic experiences. I teach students with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds. My students are in various grade levels, but they all thrive when they get to "do" science!
For the 2019-2020 school year, I am teaching Forensic Science, Independent Study -- Science, and Introduction to Research Methods.
Forensic Science is a popular course with students. The Independent Study -- Science and Introduction to Research Methods courses are new for my school. STEM/STEAM hands-on activities, cross-curricular projects, and laboratory investigations help my students to learn and apply concepts.
Many of our students want to go into the medical field. Having experiences dealing with independent studies and research in high school will better prepare them for their future colleges and careers choices. I am so excited to be teaching these courses!
Hands-on activities allow all of my students to learn and engage in understanding scientific concepts. A cotton candy machine and supplies would give my students the opportunity to see chemistry in action. In my Introduction to Research Methods class, students will be able to use cotton candy in their experiments. They can identify the physical and chemical properties, experiment with different brands, and more!
Celebrating students' successes gets students excited about coming to school.
Students appreciate being acknowledged for their good deeds and efforts in school. The cotton candy can be used as an incentive in class as well as during school-wide celebrations.
Many of my students come to me asking for a snack. It's hard to learn when you are hungry. Having a variety of snacks available for my students will help them to focus as well as encourage them.
