My students need something to inspire them to be more creative when writing. The advances in technology make it more exciting and they are willing to put more into their projects because of the visual presentation opportunities that are available to them.
Our school is in rural south central Missouri and has a high percentage of kids that receive free and reduced lunches.
They do not have the money or transportation that would allow them daily access to computers to complete projects at home. Our students are very diverse and this opportunity will help promote communication, technology, writing skills, presentation skills, and collaboration among students. Please help me to inspire my students to use their imaginations and creative skills utilizing 21st century technology and applications necessary to enhance their writing performance.
My Project
Students will be able to present their stories, plays, etc. using the camcorder I am requesting, they will then use computer technology to edit and revise their work. They will be able to see themselves and what they are capable of doing in a whole new light. Incorporating this technology into the learning process inspires them to want to contribute and improve their performance. They can also use the camcorder to document events around the school, group activities, presentations, and interviews. Having technology in place empowers them to become more involved and active participants in the educational process. Everyone feels they have something worthwhile to contribute.
So many kids need inspiration and motivation to increase their self worth and make them feel they are truly capable of succeeding.
