Our middle school is a learning community that is committed to promoting academic excellence within a safe, nurturing environment that is responsive to the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each adolescent child. Our school has more than 700 students enrolled and is areas largest middle school. The school community is a reflection of diverse population both ethnically and socio-economically. A predominant percentage of students come from low – mid-income families as 60% of the student population receives free or reduced lunch.
My Project
On May 23, our school plans to participate in our 3rd annual Cultural Diversity Celebration. On this day, all students and staff engage in various activities centered around crafts, sports, games, dance and food. The activities highlight aspects of different countries chosen through a school wide student survey. Some of the games played are: Lotteria, Trompos, Carrom, Mancala, Bocce, Pysanky, Backgammon We desperately need your help in purchasing new games and craft activities like GoSports 90mm Backyard Bocce Set with 8 Balls, Korean Oriental Chess Janggi Game Set and others. With over 740 students, much of the basic supplies used in past years have been depleted due to normal wear and tear. We have a severe shortage of games for many of the countries, since student feedback dictates which countries are celebrated each year. Your gracious donation to our project would ensure the survival of event that our students and staff have come to love, as it gives us a chance to learn about one another, showcase the pride in our school community, and supports an environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to learn.
