Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with the most amazing students! They are young men and women in 6th-8th grade that have been diagnosed with Autism. They all live in a high poverty area within Philadelphia and are so well deserving of a super cool classroom. They work hard every day, so I strive to provide them with the materials they need and deserve.
At this time, my students require school necessities to assist them in being successful, organized students.
Not only do they require basic school supplies, but they need supplies that will aid them in staying organized and following a structured routine for the entire school year.
My Project
My students are often lacking in the basic supplies we need for the school year, let alone supplies that will help them make beneficial gains. The pencils, erasers, and fine motor tools will start them off on the right foot. My students struggle with handwriting and written language, so having these tools will assist them increase these skills.
Students with Autism often struggle with organization; the binders will help them learn organization skills, while teaching them responsibility.
I want them to learn to not only keep their paperwork organized, but also be able to transfer them between home and school.
