Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My K-1 special education, Stepping Stones classroom is full of students who are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances to grow both personally and academically. While in our classroom, we focus on the K-1 curriculum, student IEP goals, and social/ emotional needs. Truly, they are my inspiration! However, it is a struggle for most of my students to be able to buy their school supplies. With that being said, I would love to have a variety of tools to push their learning even further with materials they can call their own.
My Project
I want my students to enter this school year with materials they can call their own that unfortunately, may not otherwise be accessible to them. This year is already overwhelming for students as well as educators and lacking the appropriate tools / school supplies is something no child should feel nervous about. These individual bins would provide a sense of comfort to my students during uncertain times. These tools will aid in the development of social emotional, behavioral, and academic skills for students both in school and at home as well increase engagement.
