Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have diverse learning needs. In my self contained classroom I serve students with Autism in an elementary school setting.
Autism does affect communication and behavior, so this is something we work on a lot in the classroom.
In addition to the exceptionalities my students are faced with, I work at a Title I School, which means many of our students are from low income families. Many of my students are also English Language Learners. Our students are some of the best, smartest, most loving students and I truly want to be able to give my students the best education I can.
My Project
This project will impact first through third graders in a Specialized Academic instructional program. Over the last few years I have seen my students strenght's and abilities. This year due to Covid-19 we have been learning from home. However, once we return to school each student will need their own individual sensory items and school supplies.
So many changes have happened to all students this school year.
When my students return to the classroom I want to make sure they have all needed materials to be successful and continue their learning and growth! With the art supplies and school supplies, all students will be able to have their own independent supplies to keep them and everyone else in the classroom safe upon our return from distance learning. The sensory items will help our students keep calm which is needed after being out of the classroom since March.The storage bins will help us adults label and keep all supplies and materials separated for each student and to
Keep everything organized.
I am so proud of my students. Even though we have not seen each other in person they continue to learn. I want to make their return to school as smooth as possible.
