This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach students in grades 6-12 who are behind on credits to be able to move on to middle/high school. I am teaching both middle school social studies and learning strategies. I also work with students with special needs in their core classes.
I want them to have every opportunity to succeed.
These students come from poverty as we are a Title One school. And attendance is low because most of these students do not have the support at home. The ones that do come work very hard to get their credit in their respective classes. I work with each student individually to help them communicate what their personal goals and visions for their futures are.
My Project
My students come from poverty. Most of them cannot afford basic school supplies. My school also collects backpacks, purses, and other bags when they come in the door for safety reasons.
That is where you come in.
I need pencils, paper, and notebooks for them to take notes from the computers they will be working on. It will alleviate the stress about worrying where the school supplies will come from and how they will get them in the building. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
