This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are awesome! They come from various walks of life and enjoy the time they get to spend in school. Most of the students that I teach live in low-income housing; however, no matter where they come from, they are all willing to learn and use the materials and resources around them to get ahead in school!
The students really enjoy using technology in what they are learning about, whether that is computers, iPads, Chromebooks, Promethean board, or other gadgets.
They also seem to enjoy making their own choices, so last year I implementing flexible seating. I really saw a positive reaction from giving the students more choices. They were motivated to do well and have good behavior so they could be rewarded.
My Project
Before the year gets started and the kids arrive back to school, I would like to have some necessities they need to get started on day one. In the area I work in, not every student is able to bring everything on the school supplies list. I would like to be able to offer my students a few necessities that they will be able to call their own for the duration of the school year.
I am requesting pencil bags, pencils, erasers, earbuds.
and scissors that will be dedicated to one student for the entire year. I will personalize the pencil bags at home so that they all have a students name on them. I am also requesting clipboards for outdoor lessons and dry erase markers for indoor lessons.
