Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a rural area on the outskirts of San Antonio, one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Once low-income trailer homes are being replaced by large subdivisions. Low income families are being smothered by moderately priced developments. Those who have been in the area for decades now struggle even more to compete with all those moving into the new subdivisions. Despite the odds, our school has a very positive outlook and exemplary educational results. The can-do attitude of the instructional staff as well as the diversity of staff is passed on to the students, who excel given the situations they are being subjected to. The students, overall, are a mixture of different cultures and income levels that manage to blend together and create our wonderful school!
My Project
These supplies are always needed in the classroom. My students struggle to bring in items such as pencils, markers, and notebooks.. I usually find an excellent deal at Target for notebooks, 5 cents a notebook. The supplies help us use interactive notebooks and do interactive stuff on the whiteboard. We currently have some whiteboards I bought at dollar general but the white board markers bled through and the white boards are no longer white ! Please helps us have a successful year!
