My students are from the north side of Milwaukee. They get on their school bus around 5:30am and many do not get home until 6pm. Our school day is from 7:30 am to 4 pm. This allows for a lot of learning to be done, but we need resources in order to write down what we have learned!
Our families send their students to our public charter school in hopes that their child will be prepared to go to college.
We are a new school that is in need of resources. My students are motivated learners. As 3rd graders, they are extremely curious about the world and are always wanting to learn more.
My Project
I want my students to become problem solvers. My hope is to use these resources to allow students to write down their thought processes. The new common core can be very abstract, and for learners who it helps to have things written down, notebooks would be a great supply for them to have. We also need a place to house these notebooks! This will also allow scholars to take part in journaling activities.
I want my students to become world changers.
I want them to know that college and beyond is not just a motto, but something that become a reality for them all. When my students learn more about the world around them they become better citizens and role models for the other children in the community in which they live.
