My students are amazing, full of life, talkative, and ready to learn. They are kind and considerate of other students and are always wanting to help out and find ways to make people smile. They have been impacted by Covid-19 in a few ways. One way that I have found is the lack of social skills that they have missed out on for the last year and a half. They are not sure of how they should interact with one another and sometimes, they interact too freely :). I think this is why they love to be engaged in learning and in my classroom. They have missed it so much.
My Project
These sets of books will help my students with social-emotional learning by gifting them knowledge and exploration through the books while helping my students learn to love to read and teaching them the skills necessary to move onto Jr. High.
The sets of games will be used in my classroom setting for community building, which has been lacking in these students for the last year and a half because of covid-19.
I want to help my students learn how to build up the community, friendship, and socialization through interaction with board games and not in front of a screen.
The materials, specifically the dry erase markers and clipboards are used in my classroom on a daily basis for each student to use as school supplies during whole group instruction time.
