I am a second year kindergarten teacher. As the beginning of the school year approaches we are in need of school supplies for the year. Most of my students come from a poor to lower middle class background and usually cannot provide the school supplies they need to succeed. I am asking for your help with the purchase of these school supplies. The students will be able to succeed with your help. The paper, pencils, markers, glue, and pencil sharpener will be used to do writing sheets, journals, making graphs, used in student creations in centers, as well as other everyday activities. Without the paper, pencils, markers, glue, and pencil sharpener my students will have a hard time learning to write and making self creations. One of the first projects that my students will be creating using these school supplies is a self portrait. The students and parents get a kick out of seeing the first self portrait at the beginning of the year and then seeing the last self portrait at the end of the year. This activity shows the growth in writing their names and learning to draw. Without these school supplies it would be hard to complete, even start, this project.
