My students need composition notebooks, #2 pencils and Elmer's glue sticks to maintain an interactive notebook that will help them create and organize information obtained through our lessons.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of ambitious and enthusiastic learners who work hard on a daily basis to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves. As a teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, my students face many challenges in and out of the classroom. These students come ready to learn but are often times unprepared because they do not have the necessary supplies required to complete the daily tasks they are given.
Due to a limited budget for school supplies, I often find myself spending much of my own money so that my students will have what they need to be successful mathematicians.
The last thing I want for any student is for them to be unsuccessful in class simply because they didn't have the necessary supplies.
My Project
Pencils, paper, dry erase markers, glue, and more, my students are in need of school supplies to aid in their learning experiences. Students should not have to come to school and worry that they cannot get the work done because they do not have the supplies they need in order to have a successful school day. However, many students come to school unprepared because they lack the means to obtain the supplies needed for class. As their teacher, I feel that it is my responsibility to provide my students the opportunity to succeed in my class which can become very expensive. Therefore, we are asking for school supplies so that the students can have what they need to complete assignments and projects in our middle school math classroom.
