My Students

My Kindergarten students come to school every day eager and excited to learn despite many challenges some are facing. I teach in a low income, high poverty school in the inner city. Eighty-three percent of our students receive free or reduced price meals. Many of my students are English language learners. Diversity is recognized, accepted and promoted in our classroom and school.

The five best words to describe my students are curious, cheerful, determined, imaginative, and energetic.

In our classroom creativity, innovation, and initiative are encouraged and celebrated. Children are given time to explore, make related discoveries, and experience enriched hands-on activities. High expectation of learning is set for all my students in an environment that is honest, respectful, caring and safe for all.

I'm always looking for ways to reach all my students and provide them with the best Kindergarten experience I can. Thanks to, I am able to provide many resources my students would otherwise have to go without.

My Project

Can you imagine doing your job without all the necessary tools? I'm hoping my students won't have to with this project. In our classroom the tools for success include crayons, glue sticks, markers, paint and erasers. Many of my students come to school with empty backpacks or missing many of our supplies. Help fill our backpacks today.

It is my goal to ensure that all my students are prepared to learn and succeed in our classroom.

Having the basic school supplies will help us all do our jobs in kindergarten.

Erasers help us persevere when we make mistakes. Glue sticks allow us to do fun projects and worksheets to reinforce our learning. We go through lots of tape to display student work, repair books, and make our labels last.

My students love the opportunity to do art projects. Painting seems to be a favorite year after year. The watercolors will be used for special projects throughout the year. In our art center the Do-A-Dot Art markers are a fun engaging medium for the students to use every day.
