As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Despite the hardships they have to face, I want my classroom to not be one for them. I want to ease their mind of what they can't control.
Even though my students have to endure these conditions, one thing they do not lack is the love for learning.
We are a "Leader in Me" school and these kids strive to become the best they can; they strive to become leaders! Even though my students have to endure such hardships, they never lack having respect and manners for their peers and teachers. They are wonderful students who deserve the best!
I want my students to realize they are the ones to determine their own futures and not the supplies they are not able to afford.
My Project
With these materials that I have requested my students will be able to participate in more hands-on activities. When we participate in writing I love adding on a craft with my students to make it more eventful and fun, but we are running low on construction and cardstock paper. I have also requested expo markers for my students so they can have new markers that work instead of dried out markers to be able to utilize their whiteboards in the class during math rotations and independent time. The post-its are needed for myself to label things and make notes when teaching.
