This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a special education teacher, I look forward to the joy that my students bring to class everyday. All of the students that I teach have been diagnosed with a learning disability which makes learning for them a struggle. Many of the students that I teach have been diagnosed with ADHD and I am constantly looking for more creative and fun ways to keep them engaged.
Many of my students are visual learners, while others are auditory learners and hands on learners.
Due to their various disabilities they all require different strategies/techniques to help them be successful in the classroom. Many of my students seem to be more successful when I can incorporate hands-on activities into instruction.
My Project
Many of the students that I teach come from low income homes and come to class without their necessary supplies. The students that I teach have also been diagnosed with a learning disability. These students struggle daily with organization and managing ADHD.
As their teacher, I put forth everything I can to ensure that my students are able to stay engaged in the lesson and make sure that they have the supplies that they need to enhance their learning.
In order for my students to be successful in the classroom they need paper, pencils, pens, and dry erase markers and boards. Students should not be punished for not having supplies, because their parents may not afford them. I also try to promote a clean and germ free classroom so Clorox wipes, disinfectant spray and tissues are a necessary part of the class environment.
