Help me give my students the school supplies they need to have a successful school year! The dry erase markers, highlighters, and notebooks will allow my students to interact during the lessons and activities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are located in a high crime, low socioeconomic area where priorities focus on basic living necessities. They attend a Title I school with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch. We live in a very transient area with a large military presence. My kids are a mix of general education and special education students, who work hard to bridge educational gaps.
For many of my students school is a safe haven for them.
They may live in dangerous neighborhoods, without their parents, or many without an actual home. Due to this, my students families are not able to send the necessary school supplies for their children. Help me give my students school supplies and resources for me to create fun and engaging activities and lessons.
My Project
Many families face decisions, such as keeping their children’s bellies full, which means their children’s backpacks remain empty. Every school year, these students bear the burden of knowing their families cannot provide the required classroom supplies. The materials I am requesting will give my students a sense of pride. Often times a student doesn't want to let a teacher know they do not have any supplies. They're embarrassed. This doesn't give students a chance to start out the school year on the right foot.
Students need hands-on learning and engaging projects, instead of worrying about having enough pencils to write the next great novel or compose the next symphony.
Having the necessary supplies will boost class participation, self-esteem, preparedness, and interest in learning. The supplies I am requesting will give my students the materials they need to be successful throughout the school year. It will ensure their ability to interact with the curriculum and create through project based learning. Show my students what it means to be prepared allowing them to have a great school year!
